The IM Team provides the Business Statistical Application development and support that enables ONS to produce the statistics for the UK. Based across two sites - Newport, South Wales and Titchfield, Hampshire – we provide an end-to-end service, with a specialist computing capability combining statistical knowledge and IT.
And we’re changing the way we work. With major new systems and platforms based on Service Orientated Architecture, we’re becoming a centre of excellence designed to deliver all that ONS needs – as efficiently as possible. We have a Corporate IT Strategy that gives us clear direction for the future and we’re now looking to expand our in-house capability to enable us to deliver that Strategy, delivering more for less and increasing our value to the tax payer. Past experience has shown that once at ONS, people like to stay – only 1% leaving last year. Our work on IT Professionalism and Capability Development has been recognised as best practice within government - ONS/IMD were one of the five finalists for excellence in the Leadership and Professionalism category at the 2008 e-Government National Awards.
With increased training and development, and the opportunity to hone their skills on specialist projects, we’re investing more in our people.
